A mother and her three children were held hostage at knife point by her boyfriend this Monday. The family was stuck in their Florida home all day without any phones until Cheryl Treadway decided to ask her boyfriend Ethan Nickerson if they could order a pizza.
She used a Pizza Hut phone app to order a pepperoni pizza, but also included a message, a plea for help. Cheryl’s order was received by a local Pizza Hut where they saw her note: “Please help. Get 911 to me. 911 hostage help!”
The Pizza Hut staff recognized Cheryl’s number as a regular customer and called authorities. Candy Hamilton, the Hut’s manager, told WFLA what she thought when Cheryl’s cry for help came into their system, “We’ve never seen that before. I’ve been here 28 years and never, never seen nothing like that come through.”
When Police officials got to the home, Cheryl ran out holding her baby. Ethan refused to leave the house because he didn’t want to go to jail, but later came out after talking with the police.
Cheryl and her three children were all unharmed, and her boyfriend Ethan is now in jail and being charged with battery, false imprisonment, aggravated assault with a weapon without intent to kill, and obstructing justice by depriving communication to law enforcement.
Officials say that Ethan Nickerson has been arrested several times in the past and is suspected to be using meth.
