It’s a sad time for fans of the soap opera General Hospital, as actor John Ingle has passed away at age 84 on Sunday, September 16.
Ingle played patriarch of the Quartermaine family, Edward Quartermaine, since 1994. The ailing actor taped his finale scenes of the soap on August 24, and it aired on September 11.
The news of his death was first revealed by his family on Facebook. They posted:

Executive producer of GH, Frank Valentini, then released the following statement via Twitter:
With great sadness, I share the news of John Ingle‘s passing. We love him and will miss him. John will always be a part of the #GH family.
Ingle is survived by his five daughters, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. His wife of 57 years, Grace-Lynne Martin Ingle, passed in February of this year.
