An estranged couple who appeared in the reality show Ghost Adventures was found dead from an apparent murder-suicide in Reno, Nevada on Tuesday. Mark and Debby Constantino’s bodies were found by police who were originally investigating the death of a third person, a man who had been living with Debby Constantino after the couple split.
According to the Associated Press and NBC News, officers heard gunshots when they knocked on the door to the Constantinos’ daughter’s apartment. When confronted, a man’s voice shouted at them to leave, or “or I’ll kill her.” When police finally gained entry into the home by using explosives, they found the bodies inside the apartment.
Police have not officially released the cause of death, but the couple had a long history of domestic violence, and this wasn’t the first time that Mark Constantino had allegedly taken his wife hostage. Their divorce papers were not yet finalized at the time of the murder-suicide, and Constantino had already been arrested in August on suspicion of domestic battery by strangulation, first-degree kidnapping and first-degree domestic battery.
The pair was well known for their Ghost Adventures episodes in which the two visited “the most haunted places on Earth” in attempt to draw out spirits that lived there. In the video below, the couple discusses what lies in store for them “on the other side.”
Who knew they’d find out about the other side in this horrific way.
