Grey’s Anatomy Patrick Dempsey Buys Out Tully’s Coffee

He’s known as a life-saving doctor on ABC’s medical show Grey’s Anatomy as “Dr. McDreamy” but he’s coming to the rescue in real life for Seattle coffee chain, Tully’s.

TC Global, the owner of Tully’s Coffee filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy back in October.  It operates 47 cafes in California and Washington. Dempsey was part of the bidding war to take over the chain, besting coffee giant Starbucks with his $9.15 million bid.

Dempsey tweeted out the winning bid to his followers bragging, “We met the green monster, looked her in the eye, and … she blinked! We got it!”

In a public statement Dempsey said he was most excited about saving the jobs of those who work for the chain, about 500 employees. He’s also confident he can build the brand up again through his company, Global Baristas LLC, and plans to complete the purchase of the deal later this month.
