Guy Perfectly Blends 6 Pop Country Songs Into 1 Tune to Prove a Point

If you listen to the radio these days, you’ll notice how similar the songs that are played on repeat can sound.

One man, musician Gregory Todd, felt that way about today’s pop country scene, so he decided to find out just how formulaic the genre has become. He used six of today’s chart toppers and added them all into one perfect mash-up that could be a stand-along song on it’s own.

Todd used a program called ProTools to create the tune and relied on the following songs to make it happen:

“Sure Be Cool If You Did”- Blake Shelton
“Drunk on You”- Luke Bryan
“Chillin’ It”- Cole Swindell
“Close Your Eyes”- Parmalee
“This is How We Roll”- Florida Georgia Line
“Ready, Set, Roll”- Chase Rice

Todd makes clear however, that he is not shaming the music industry with this mashup, saying

This Mashup is all in good fun. I am not bashing these songs. I understand and even appreciate why the “formula” continues to dominate the airwaves- not only in country music, but in pop and other genres as well. I simply enjoy mixing and producing on Pro Tools, and when I heard the striking similarities of these particular hits, I thought it would be fun to throw them all in a mix and see what I could come up with. And it looks like people are having fun with it too, so I couldn’t be happier!

We’re certainly having fun with it as we’re familiar with all of these songs, and think this mashup is pretty damn awesome.
