I have very curly hair. And curly hair has a tendency to get very dry. I’ve tried oils, deep conditioners, deep conditioning oils, and every other kind of leave-in hair products designed to soften and/or repair your hair.
When the folks from Philip Kingsley sent us some samples of their “Elasticizer” mask to try, I was willing, but deeply suspicious. I’m a fairly low maintenance person, so having to add another step to my hair/styling process isn’t something I go into without some grumpiness.
But, since I was working from home the day I tried it out, I had a bit more time to wet my hair and allow the product to sit on my head in a shower cap for 30 minutes, before shampooing and conditioning my hair.
Philip Kingsley says their new Elasticizer product, is the world’s first pre-shampoo conditioning treatment. They go on to say, it’s suitable for all hair types, and delivers a rush of moisture inside the hair’s cuticle.
I have to tell the truth, I could tell my hair was going to be softer and more manageable as soon as I got out of the shower to towel off.
I applied my usual styling products and let it dry. A few minutes later, I went back in to dry my curls with a defusing blow-dryer–and my hair looked better than it has in a very long time. No lie!
The mask is designed to protect your hair from damaging UV sun rays and prolong hair color–by the way, I color my hair, and the color appeared to look richer than before the treatment.
Philip Kingsley Elasticizer retails for $45 (150 ml) or $25 (75 ml) and is available at Amazon. It may be a bit on the pricier side for hair products, of course everything’s relative, but in this case, I thought it was worth it.
