HEARTBREAKING VIDEO: News Anchor with ALS Bids Goodbye After 39 Years on Air

ABC 11 anchor Larry Stogner has been reporting the news to the good people of North Carolina for nearly four decades. He’s finally leaving his post, though not necessarily by choice.

Stogner is leaving instead to enjoy the final months of his life before he succumbs to ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, better known as the ice bucket challenge disease. Stogner took that challenge himself back in the summer of 2014, but, he said, “little did I know it was about to change my life.”

Stogner says goodbye to his audiences on his final night, pledging to return. We may not live in North Carolina, but the announcement is truly heartbreaking and reminder to all to enjoy your fragile life while you still can. Watch above.
