On November 28, just a day after Thanksgiving, a German Shepherd named Noah died protecting children from gunfire in an Atlanta strip mall.
According to NBC, the dog is being praised as a hero for saving the lives of three kids and their mother after a road rage incident caused one motorist to open fire on their Chevy Suburban.
When the aggressor brought out a gun and began firing, Noah reportedly jumped from the passenger seat into the back of the vehicle, taking a bullet that could have struck one of the children.
Noah then jumped out of the window and chased the gunman’s car for a short while before limping into an alleyway and taking his last breath.
Sgt. Gregory Lyon of the Atlanta Police Department told NBC:
They were fired upon and their family was terrorized. They survived that only to find that their pet is now gone. It’s sad for the whole family, especially the day after Thanksgiving.
