High School Sweethearts Reunite 63 Years Later, Get Married

Were these two long-lost high school sweethearts destined to find each other after all these years? As fate would have it, they were.

Back in 1950, Johnny and Marcella dated as teenagers, but when they broke up after just one year, the two of them lost touch, according KAIT8.

They moved on and eventually married other people. Marcella was devoted to her husband for 39 years and Johnny to his wife for 58, but when their spouses passed on, the hands of destiny brought them together once more. That was all it took for these lovebirds to realize they had a special connection, one they weren’t willing to let go of.

“We spent the day together, and we’ve gone from there and picked up where we left off when we were teenagers,” Marcella told ABC News. “I think at the very beginning we realized when we saw each other that we cared very much for each other. At our age now we were kind of hesitant at first but we realized a few weeks in that we were in love and wanted to get married.”

Last Saturday, they exchanged vows in Lake City, Arkansas, and are currently in Missouri on their honeymoon.

“Mom had a wooden box that she had from the days when she was a teenager, and his name was in that box,” Marcella’s daughter told ABC.

The universe sure does work in mysterious ways, doesn’t it? Even if it takes more than six decades, it’s never too late for love.

We wish the happy couple all the best!
