HIGHLIGHTS: Coachella 2014 Day 1 Kicks the Festival Off to an Amazing Start

Coachella 2014 has started off with a bang with the first day of Weekend 1 officially under wraps. Festival-goers are already enjoying the beginning of another fun-filled day, but if you want to either relive some of the action from yesterday or just happen to be following along at home, we’ve put together a few of the highlights.

Here’s what happened:
Coachella 2014 day 1 displayed an array of artists, all of whom blew away the audience in their own way. Gabba Gabba Heys, the Bots, and Anthony Green filled up some of the earlier time slots, giving the festival-goers their first taste of what Coachella is all about: having a great time while listening to incredible music.

Grouplove, MS MR, AFI and Kate Nash heated up the afternoon (along with the desert sun) as people ran from one stage to the next to see their favorites in action.

And the night rounded out with some of the biggest names of the first day, including an energy-filled set with Ellie Goulding who brought out hordes of viewers as they rocked along to some of her biggest hits such as “Lights,” “Burn” and “Anything Could Happen.”

Australian DJ Flume was another one of the acts to draw a huge crowd and deliver a performance to remember. The energy in the Gobi tent was palpable as each and every audience member danced without a care to the hypnotic beat of the 22-year-old’s exhilarating electronic tracks.

Of course the night’s headliner act was OutKast, who graced the lucky audience with its first show in nearly a decade. The duo, comprised of André 3000 and Big Boi, took fans back with classics such as” B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad)” and “Rosa Parks,” as well as the instantly recognizable monster hits such as “Ms. Jackson” and “Hey Ya.” The set is certainly a great start to their comeback as the band kicks off its music tour to celebrate its 20 year anniversary.

While we were certainly blown away by all the music let’s not forget the guests. A reported 75,000 people are in attendance this weekend and when that many people party together, the music isn’t the only thing to enjoy. Festive outfits, incredibly positive vibes, and live-in-the-moment attitudes were all on full display during day 1, further proving an event like Coachella brings people together like few other things can.

With all this wrapped up in only the first day, we can’t wait to see what the rest of the weekend has in store for us.
