It’s that time of year when we love to light candles — they just seem to bring the season alive with their flickering light and subtle warmth. But what do you do if you have a thick, half-burned candle and only small matches or a regular hand lighter?
Simple: Use a piece of pasta. (What? Pasta can burn? Yep, check out the video above.)
We can’t tell you how many times we’ve done the dangerous deed of rolling up paper and using that to light something, but you risk the paper flaring up in your hand or leaving gross ash in the bottom of the candle. But a piece of pasta is actually quite clean when it burns, and because it burns slowly you can do the job without worry.
