Is the Party Over for LMFAO? Redfoo Announces Band’s Breakup

We might have heard the last from the kings of party rock, at least for a while. Redfoo, one half of the music duo LMFAO announced that he and his long time band-mate, Sky Blu – who also happens to be his nephew – have decided to go on a break to focus on their own interests, both personally and professionally.

“I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years. And we’re kind of like saying, well, let’s just do what’s natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time,” 37-year-old Redfoo explained, reports Huffington Post.

While Redfoo said he will continue working with music, including writing a song for the New England Patriots, he is also going to follow his passion for the sports. In addition to doing some performances on the US gymnastics tour, he has also been spotted cheering on close friend Victoria Azarenka at the U.S. Open, and spending time on the tennis courts coaching junior player, Ayaka Okuno.

Additionally, he’s planning to open his own line of tennis clothing and sponsoring the United States Tennis Association’s Party Rock Open in Las Vegas starting Sunday.

As for the break from his band-mate, he said he doesn’t know when the two will get back together, saying they’re going in “different directions.”

“I think that we naturally just started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we’re always family,” he said. “He’ll always be my nephew, I’ll always be his uncle.”

About his music he added, “All the music that I’m going to make is always going to be LMFAO-ish … I love all the topics that we talk about. I was really passionate about bringing party music to the world, so I will always be making some kind of party music.”
