It’s official- the era of Guidos, Guidettes and fist-pumping is over.
MTV announced today the popular reality TV show Jersey Shore, which has suffered a ratings decline recently, will be ending after its upcoming sixth season, premiering Oct 4.
Farewell programming is scheduled next Thursday, Sept. 6th, with a one-hour retrospective called Gym, Tan, Look Back, before the MTV Video Music Awards.
Ronnie Magro, one of the cast mates wrote about the cancellation: “It’s bittersweet that it’s over but excited to see what the future holds. These past six seasons have been unforgettable, I have an extension of my family now, I’m walking away with the girl of my dreams and so many amazing memories.”
Although fans of the show will surely be disappointed, it seems that Twitterverse is mostly cheering the end of the show. Here are a few of the funniest tweets we found.
Yes, I know they're cancelling Jersey Shore. But the brain cells you lost watching it aren't ever growing back.

Jersey Shore has been cancelled. I guess tv can only handle one dysfunctional group being broadcast from NJ, and the Jets are it.

"Jersey Shore" may be ending, but the diseases left in that house will last forever.
