Justin Timberlake isn’t just a singer, actor, recovering boy band member– Need we continue?–kind of guy. Turns out, he’s also a major style maven.
On the surface that sounds a little silly. After all, it’s common knowledge that celebrities have stylists who help groom them for everything from live performances and red carpet appearances to regular nights out on the town. While Timberlake usually looks casually cool in his public persona, most people don’t see him as an actual taste-maker when it comes to fashion or design. But “most people” may very well be wrong.
Timberlake’s been engaged to actress Jessica Beal for the last seven months, and she reveals in the latest issue of InStyle that she turns to him for help when it comes to her own personal look, even with her wardrobe decisions. “In fact, when it came to choosing the custom-made engagement ring Biel has been sporting since Timberlake popped the question in December, she actually had nothing to do with it,” the article states. Beal explains, “I had no say whatsoever [in the ring]. I don’t micromanage. He is fearless in his choices and has a real eye for design. And I’ll be honest: He has better taste than I do.”
That talent, it seems, extends beyond Beal and Timberlake’s household as well. The 31-year-old businessman evidently has a passion for design and architecture, so he teamed up with interior designer and stylist, Estee Stanley–who was Timberlake’s stylist during his N-Sync years– to launch a home furnishings company called HomeMint. This online service helps visitors complete a style profile, then each month Timberlake and Stanley generate a special selection of home furnishings, decor and art tailored to that profile. Subscribers check out their online showroom selections, can mix and match suggestions, or purchase items.
According to one article on HomeMint, “Timberlake and Stanley collaborate with artisans from all over the world to build these exclusive capsule collections, which contain hard-to-find pieces, unique accents and accessories, as well as curated collections of limited-edition art and photography from undiscovered, emerging and established artists… And, best of all, because of HomeMint’s direct marketing approach, they’re able to offer members items at a huge discount -up to 50% off.”
On the HomeMint site, loaded with videos, shopping options and (we have to admit) some really cool looking choices, Timberlake explains, “HomeMint merges my love for interior design with my passion for innovation to create a personalized home collection- it’s like having your very own interior designer. A home should be inspiring and a reflection of you, and HomeMint brings your individual style to your space.”
Martha Stewart, watch out!
