Compassionate Woman Prevents Stranger from Committing Suicide

A quick-thinking and compassionate woman prevented a man from committing suicide near Miller Park in Milwaukee when she noticed him on the wrong side of a fence over I-94 on Sunday.

Jill Hewitt told reporters that when she approached the unidentified man, she held onto him for dear life, telling him: “God meant for you not to take your own life.”

While her actions were not caught on camera, we don’t believe they need to be seen to be believed.

Hewitt estimates that she was holding onto him for several minutes, until officers from the nearby Veterans Affairs Medical Center rushed over to assist and pull the man from the bridge.

He never did reveal why he wanted to jump, but kept repeating, “I want to die. I want to die.”

“I told him I wouldn’t let him go,” Jill Hewitt says.
