Justin Bieber Dominates the 40th Annual American Music Awards

Bieber Fever was strong last night at the American Music Awards. The teen heart-throb, who brought his mom as his date, dominated the show winning three trophies, including artist of the year.

Among his other wins were best male artist and favorite pop/rock album for Believe.

The Biebs also performed an acoustic version of “As Long As You Love Me” and an up-beat dance heavy version of “Beauty and the Beat,” with Nicki Minaj.

The female rapper also had a good night, taking home two awards including best rap/hip-hop artist.

Other highlights of the night included MC Hammer and Korean rapper Psy rocking out to the viral hit “Gangnam Style.” Psy also paid a nod to the 50-year-old rapper by wearing ‘Hammer’ pants while dancing to “Too Legit to Quit.”

Dick Clark, who created the AMAs and passed away earlier this year, was honored with an upbeat performance by Stevie Wonder and a tribute speech by Ryan Seacrest.

Seacrest said “Dick loved the power of music and its ability to create pure joy.”

Later Wonder added “I remember his friendship and his kindness. I remember his love for music and his love for people. I challenge you as communicators, leaders, politicians, spiritual leaders: Put your love first like we musicians put our music first… Then we can be jamming until the break of dawn.”
