Lady Gaga ‘Honored’ as Namesake for New Killer Wasp

We don’t know about you, but it seems to us that kookiness just follows Lady Gaga wherever she goes! So what’s the latest buzz about the larger-than-life superstar?

Researchers at the University of Thailand have discovered a new species of wasp and named it after the singer.

The pint-sized parasitoid has been deemed Aleiodes gaga, in honor of the star. In case you’re wondering, a parasitoid is different than a parasite in that although both types of creatures use a host organism to fuel their own lives, a parasite simply feeds off its host whereas the parasitoid tends to kill off its host. Brutal.

We’re not so sure if we would consider having such a creature named after us an honor… but then again, we’re not Lady Gaga.

What do you think of the garden-headed pop star being the namesake for the killer wasp? Share your thoughts in the section below.
