Lady Gaga Plays La Chameleon in Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills

Lady Gaga to play La Chameleon in Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills

In one of the more surprising casting news we’ve heard in some time, Lady Gaga has confirmed her first ever acting gig. Writing-director Robert Rodriguez, who has directed movies such as Planet Terror and Sin City, pegged Mother Monster as La Chameleon in his upcoming movie, Machete Kills.

The news broke yesterday when Rodriguez himself sent out a Tweet, revealing not only Gaga’s casting news but also that work on the movie has been underway for some while now. The tweet read “”I just finished working with @LadyGaga on @MacheteKills, she kicked SO MUCH ASS! Holy Smokes. Blown away!”

The singer also posted a message on Twitter adding “Yes its true, I will be making my debut as an actress ln the amazing MACHETE KILLS_ IM SO EXCITED!!! AH! Filming was insane.”

Nothing is known about Lady Gaga’s role yet, but according to ABC News “In Machete Kills, [the] president taps the series’ titular hero, played by Danny Trejo, to stop a space-based terror weapon.”

A character poster released yesterday might give some hints to Gaga’s character. In it, she is topless with a dead white wolf draped around her body, short yellow bottoms and thigh-high stockings. She also dons a Marilyn Monroe-style wig while holding a golden pistol with a smoking silencer in her right hand. Any ideas what her character might be all about?

For the rest of the cast, Rodriguez made some similarly surprising picks. These include Amber Heard, Sofia Vergera, Zoe Saldana, Jessica Alba, Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Alex Vega and, wait for it_Charlie Sheen, as the film’s U.S. President.

Mull that one over.

The movie has no set release date as of yet, but is reported to open in 2013.
