The Ever-Glamorous Lana Del Rey Debuts “West Coast” at Coachella

Have you ever heard of Lizzy Grant? No, probably not. That’s because she goes by her alter ego, Lana Del Rey.

Some people love to hate her, while others hate to love her, or just plain love to love her. But despite what her critics may have to say, everyone seems to scream  when she steps on stage.

This songstress knows how to draw a crowd. Isn’t that the job of a true artist?

On Sunday, the ever-glamorous, ever-pouty singer, dressed in a pink and orange floral-print dress with her hair effortlessly styled, played a low key set for thousands of die-hard fans at the Outdoor Theatre during Weekend 1 of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Check out these exclusive photos from the event.

Del Rey was one of the festival’s most anticipated acts, and although she was about 15 minutes late, the moment she adorned the stage everyone in attendance went crazy.

Twitter told Mashable that Del Rey was the most-mentioned artist at Coachella this past weekend.

Somehow, she is capable of deploying sadness with a certain reverie. She is beautiful, provocative and tragic.

According to Del Rey, Coachella is “the sexiest concert of the year.” And if there’s anyone who knows a thing or two about sexy it’s definitely her.

As one devoted fan so eloquently puts it: “Lana has this sensuality in her voice that draws you in. I love that she can be sexy just by singing. Her sound is different — it’s both vintage and modern, but in a sexy way. She’s seriously just sex.”

During her 45-minute set, she made sure to exude everything her fans crave, while crooning hits from 2012’s “Born to Die” and its accompanying EP, “Paradise.” Midway through her act, she even revealed her new single “West Coast.”

“So amazing,” she said after singing “Born to Die.” “Your energy is so, so good.”

Even with her tour underway, and one of two Coachella sets under wraps, she has somehow managed to keep the elements of her upcoming album Ultraviolence undisclosed. It’s not an easy achievement for a major artist these days, especially one who’s as familiar with leaks as Del Rey.

This “old Hollywood” sultry Lolita knows what she’s doing, and she does it really, really well.

By turning herself into a character that allows people to dream lofty dreams and imagine the unknown, she has become the epitome of what happens to someone that offers herself, body and soul, in exchange for the risks of love.

We can’t think of any other artist out there right now who could sing “My pussy tastes like Pepsi-cola” and make it sound as sweet as she does.
