Back in mid-July we were psyched to report on the reunion of The Backstreet Boys, with all five members on board for a comeback.
Now we’re psyched to report on the release of their first song as a reunited group. The band’s new single, ‘It’s Christmas Time again,’ is an upbeat and catchy holiday tune. And the boys are hoping it becomes an instant classic.
Nick Carter gushed to AOL Music about the new single saying, “We’re so proud of this new song. There aren’t that many original holiday songs out there — which is so crazy to say — and we really feel we made a timeless contribution to the season and a song our kids will be listening to. Plus, we have our boy Kevin back in the studio with us. This is a really exciting time.”
As for the boys’ next studio album- It’s set to drop sometime next year, which will also mark the band’s 20th anniversary.
Is a holiday tune a smart choice as the first comeback song? Should they have released a ballad instead? What’s up with those tacky Christmas jackets the boys wore to a weekend pre-taping at Disneyland? All questions remain to be answered. For now, listen to the tune and give us your thoughts!
