A 32-year-old Indonesian woman in Manama, the capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain, is currently standing trial after getting pregnant by her employer’s 13-year-old son.
The woman, who was working as a maid at the boy’s residence, first alleged that the teenager raped her, but later changed her statement after being interrogated by investigators.
“She had first claimed she was raped by the boy, who is considered a child, but it emerged later that she had a relationship with him,” said Ibtisam Al Sabbagh, the boy’s lawyer.
According to CNN Arabia, the maid was able to hide the fact that she was expecting for the duration of her pregnancy, but the beans spilled shortly before she was to take a flight home.
“She went into premature labour before her travel. She delivered herself in the bathroom at her employer’s home,” explained Al Sabbagh.
Currently, she is standing trial for her offense, and considering the strict laws in the Gulf island nation against sexual activity, she most likely won’t be let off the hook too easily.
