Dominyk Antonio Alfonseca, 23, was arrested after he allegedly broke into a Virginia Beach bank and stole $150,000. According to reports, Alfonseca was apprehended a mere 20 minutes after the TowneBank branch was robbed, because of the incriminated photo and two videos he posted to Instagram.
He apparently uploaded a photo of the note he handed to the bank teller, along with two videos that show the teller handing over the money.
The photo of the handwritten note asks for $150,000 “right now!! Please,” along with two smiley faces, and instructions for how to get him the money.
In a jailhouse interview with WAVY-TV, Alfonseca admitted to posting the photo and videos to his account.
“I decided to go to the bank,” he said. “She gave me money, and I left.”
But surprisingly, Alfonseca claims what he did was not a crime and denies wrongdoing.
“I videotaped it. If it was a robbery, I don’t think I would videotape it, post the picture of the letter and do that all to come to jail,” he said. “A robbery is going in and demanding something and taking the money. I didn’t do that.”
Alfonseca is a self-proclaimed rapper, and he implied that the entire stunt might have been an attempt to get more attention on social media.
He also claimed that he believes he will be found innocent in court.
