While exploring the vast Peruvian Amazon, a graduate student named Troy Alexander first discovered these fascinating structures.
It seems that these particular species builds a circular fence around its egg sac.
Researchers are still trying to figure out exactly why the spiders create such intricate structures, though some believe the fence is made to catch food. That way, when the spiderlings hatch, they have something to eat immediately.
