Mark Bustos works as a hairstylist in an upscale salon in New York City, but he doesn’t share his talent with only the Manhattan elite.
On a weekly basis, Bustos hands out quality trims free of charge to the homeless men scattered through the streets of the city. He spends every Sunday — his only day off from work — wandering around the cities in search of men and women in need, and gives them a luxury many of them likely haven’t experience for years: a good haircut.
Bustos always approaches the homeless men and women with the same simple phrase, “I want to do something nice for you today,” and shares photos of his good deeds on his Instagram account. We’ve printed some of the best photos in the slideshow above for you to enjoy.
It may not sound like much, but it’s something. Judging from the pictures above, originally printed in Huffington Post, they appreciate the gesture too. Bustos was first inspired to start giving haircuts for homeless during a visit to his family in the Phillipines. He paid a local barber to rent a chair and give haircuts to impoverished children in need.
“The feeling was so rewarding, I decided to bring the positive energy back to NYC,” said the 30 year-old stylist.
