Compared to the birth of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — the circumstances surrounding the upcoming birth of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first child seem shrouded in mystery. The Royal Family has been very tight-lipped about the whole affair, and
Meghan Markle hasn’t been seen publicly since March, leading speculation to run wild over exactly how far along the pregnancy might be.
In March, Buckingham Palace put out an official statement that “[t]he Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.” Recent events have stirred up a lot of chatter on the internet that we could be hearing this announcement sooner than we think. Could the new addition to the Royal Family has actually already arrived?
People reports that Queen Elizabeth stopped by to visit the couple at their new home at Frogmore Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle. The Queen could have simply come to visit the Duke and Duchess of Essex’s newly renovated home, but she is not the only visitor from the Royal Family to dropped by recently.
Vanity Fair points out that Prince Harry’s brother, Prince William, and his wife Kate Middleton also came Frogmore Cottage a week prior to the Queen’s visit. Could this rush of activity around the expecting couples new home be the private celebration alluded to in the official statement from Buckingham Palace?
Some sources have even tried to assert that Markle has had twins. While this is an interesting theory, there is nothing that indicates the theory is true. Some viral YouTube channels have been going crazy with this one. Here is a perfect example of a video:
British radio host Chris Evans seems to think so. The Daily Mail reports that Evans said on air that he “knows something” and suggested that “there might be a new royal baby already.” Evan’s shocking pronouncement seems to be the spark that ignited the blaze of speculation across the internet. However, there are a few other curious details that have kept those fires burning.
Yahoo UK reports that a strange glitch on the Royal Family’s Home Page has led some to suspect the Meghan and Prince Harry may have already chosen a name for their new baby. “When you type ‘/prince-arthur’, ‘/prince-alexander,’ or ‘/prince-james’ after the page’s main home page, you are taken to the website’s main page,” the article states. “However, if you do the same with other prospective royal baby name choices — such as ‘/princess-grace’, you are met with a ‘page not found’ message.” This has led some avid royal-watchers to conclude that the baby is a boy and that the parents have already narrowed down their choice of a name.
While we can’t be sure whether the new royal baby has already arrived or is still on its way, we can expect that the attention the child is drawing won’t abate anytime soon, and we’ll all be keeping a close eye out for any new news about the birth. We shouldn’t have to wait long. After all, Meghan’s official due date was last Sunday.
