It’s wedding bells time for Michelle Kwan!
The Olympic medalist, who has five figure skating world championships, confirmed her engagement last night to 30-year-old Clay Pell, the director for strategic planning on the White House National Security staff. Talk about a power-couple.
People reports Pell popped the question on September 3. The couple first met in April 2011.
Kwan, 32, said, “It was a simple decision and it made sense, that’s what’s so exciting to me. We are working together as a team, like in [pair skating].”
In case you’re wondering, yes Pell is related to late Rhode Island Senator Claiborne Pell, who created Pell Grants to financially assist college students about 40 years ago.
It is reported that Pell proposed to Kwan on Block Island, right off the Rhode Island coast.
Congrats to the newly engaged couple!
