Classic Christmas Lyrics You Might Have Been Butchering All Along

MSN recently put out a slideshow of Christmas songs the site says are often misheard and sung incorrectly. As we went through the list, we weren’t so sure who they were talking about because we’ve never heard anyone mangle Christmas lyrics quite so badly. Whether or not the claim is correct, what got our attention was how hilarious the incorrect lyrics were!

Check out some of our favorite laugh-out-loud worthy “‘misheard’” lyrics, that give these classic holiday songs a whole new meaning.

The Twelve Days of Christmas

Lyric: “On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me.”

Lyric: “Here we are as in olden days, happy golden days of yore.”
Misheard lyric: “Here we are, as in olden days, happy golden rays, up yours.”

Jingle Bells

Lyric: “Dashing through the snow, in a one-horse open sleigh.”
Misheard lyric: “Dashing through the snow with one horse, soap and hay.”
