New Hunger Games: Mockingjay Teaser Trailer Premieres, and It’s Super Creepy

A new teaser trailer for the upcoming Hunger Games film Mockingjay: Part 1 premiered earlier today, taking the guise of a propaganda trailer in the world of Panem.

If you’re looking for some clues on the plot of the upcoming film (but don’t want to read the book), the trailer will likely disappoint you. Like most of the advertising for Mockingjay: Part 1, it’s more cryptic than anything — which is just a nice way of saying it’s horribly creepy.

In the trailer, a white-clad President Snow (played by Donald Sutherland) issues a threatening warning against rebellion, thinly veiled as a peaceful offering to the rebelling districts. And, perhaps most tellingly, Josh Hutcherson’s Peeta stands dutifully at his side.

The film will be the first part of the series’ two part conclusion, based on Suzanne Collins’ book trilogy of the same name. The plot concerns Katniss becoming the figurehead of a revolution as she works to save Peeta from the clutches of the Capitol, as hinted at in this trailer.

It hits theaters November 21st of this year.
