Another role has been filled as The Hunger Games: Catching Fire gets closer to its filming date. Lionsgate has announced that Lynn Cohen will play the part of Mags for the upcoming film.
We’ve recently reported on the casting news of Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Amanda Plummer and Jena Malone as Plutarch Heavensbee, Wiress, and Johanna Mason, respectively. Now the Broadway actress joins that list of new-comers to the cast.
As Examiner.com explains [SPOILER ALERT] “Mags is an 80-year-old former victor of The Hunger Games from District 4 and former mentor to fellow district member and winner Finnick Odair.”
The role for Finnick Odair hasn’t been confirmed as of yet, but Snow White and the Huntsman actor Sam Claflin seems heavily favored for the part.
As for Cohen, she has had varied roles including parts in Steven Spielberg’s Munich and Charlie Kaufman’s Synecdoche, N.Y. She is best known for her role as Miranda Hobbes’ nanny in HBO’s Sex and the City.
The movie which is directed by Francis Lawrence, who has also directed I am Legend and Water for Elephants among others, is slated from release Nov 22, 2013.
