Mother Arrested for Locking Three Young Kids in Hot Car So She Could Go to the State Fair

An Arizona mother of three was arrested after she allegedly left the kids locked in a hot car so that she could go to the state fair. Police say that it was an 87 degree Fahrenheit day when 28-year-old Collen Manuelito left the children with no air conditioning and the windows rolled up.

The children are reportedly only six, three, and one-year-old.

Arizona State Troopers were called to the scene by other fair-goers who spotted the children and were concerned for their safety. The authorities were able to free the children from the vehicle and they were taken to a first aid station on the fair grounds, Huffington Post reported.

They had no idea who the mother was until Manuelito contacted authorities herself to report her children missing.

At first she denied wrong-doing, claiming that she had been at the mall and that it was in fact her ex-boyfriend who left the children in the hot vehicle.

However when authorities questioned the children, they said their mother was the one who left them.

Manuelito reportedly did admit to the act, after further questioning.

She was booked on multiple charges of child endangerment and one charge of false reporting to law enforcement. She has also been barred from having unsupervised contact with her children, by order of a judge.

The children have been placed in the care of the Arizona Department of Child Safety.
