According to detectives, a 22-year-old mother, Nicole “Nikki” Kelly, from Queens, New York, killed her 11-month-old son because she “reached her breaking point” and “didn’t want him anymore.”
The former Home Health aide wrapped up little Kiam Felix, Jr. so tightly in a bed sheet that he couldn’t move or breathe. During this time, she went to take a shower and left him unattended for half an hour. Tragically, he ended up suffocating.
Prosecutors claim that soon after the boy turned blue, she called his father, who is not suspected of being involved in the death.
A neighbor told The New York Post that when the father arrived “I could hear him yelling, “I’m not waiting for the f****** ambulance, he’s not breathing!”‘
Kiam was pronounced dead after arriving at Elmhurst Hospital on Sunday.
It wasn’t until after Kelly was taken into custody that she broke down and told investigators her motive for her horrific actions.
And things don’t end there.
Apparently, the mother also posted an image of her son’s lifeless corpse, who was dressed in a white-collared shirt, tie and pants, on her Facebook page, with the message: R.I.P Tinkabutt.
In conjunction with the shocking photograph, Kelly left a message which read:
Missing my baby boy so much wish there was some way I could bring him back to life. I feel horrible knowing he passed away Am his Mother I was supposed to protect him I know his spirit will always be around me.
She has been charged with second-degree murder.
Was this a case of postpartum depression or just plain wickedness?
