Orangutan Escapes Enclosure at Zoo, Gives Visitors Quite the Show

Over the weekend, visitors to the Perth Zoo in Western Australia were treated to quite the experience when a five-year-old Sumatran orangutan escaped its enclosure.

Before being caught by trainers, Teliti explored the boardwalk while toting a water water bottle and swinging around on various structures.

According to the zoo’s Primate Supervisor, the young orangutan is a “very gregarious and curious youngster.”

This morning, like a lot of adventurous five year olds, she has taken the opportunity to test her boundaries, but soon realised it was preferable with her orangutan colony. Her calm nature and trust in her dedicated keepers enabled us to quickly secure her in the orangutan night quarters.
