In the dating world, a lot of initial connections are sparked based almost completely on looks. And while being physically attractive is of high importance to many people, it certainly isn’t the only thing to base relationships on.
One personality-based dating app called Loveflutter understands the importance of getting to know someone on a deeper level at the start of a relationship and has decided to aid that process by eliminating the looks factor in it the speed dating events it hosts.
Participants in these events do all the things people normally do on speed dates, with one difference: They have to wear paper bags over their heads with a 140-character fun fact about themselves written on it.
This approach makes it easy to jump into the important things, but if you just can’t fathom the thought of going on a date and not knowing what the person looks like, don’t worry. Everyone removes the bags from their heads at the end of the date.
Want to try it out? The next event will take place in New York City on November 19 from 7 to 10 pm at the New York Hall of Science. Cost of admission is $25, which includes four free drinks and a paper bag art kit.
