It’s that time of year again, when bearded contestants and beard enthusiasts gathered together in Las Vegas to compete for the title of Best Beard. Known as the Whiskerino contest, the event was a part of the Las Vegas Elks’ Helldorado Days festival.
A dazzling array of elaborately styled beards, carefully trimmed moustaches, and jaw-dropping sideburns were on display, where facial hair is the currency for bragging-rights.
Contestants were encouraged to dress in Western, pioneer, cowboy, or 1880s themed period attired, although the stipulation was not mandatory.
Not only did a ton of effort gone into styling and shaping the beards, but you have to consider the time and upkeep that went into maintaining healthy, well-kempt facial hair.
Attendees competed in six categories that included longest beard, best groomed, most unique beard, longest moustache, best moustache, best goatee, and audience favorite. Contestants were rated before a panel of experts for the various titles—with not shortage in the diversity of hair presented by each competitor.
Proceeds of the competition went to fund local children’s organizations, according to the Whiskerino contest page.
