Like all animals snakes play their part in the circle of life, helping to bring balance to the eco system—and all that good stuff. And while non-venomous snakes can have their charm, rattlesnakes are where we draw the line.
They give us the heebie-jeebies, and many others too. That’s why when we learned about the rattlesnake roundup that goes down in Sweetwater, Texas—the biggest roundup in the country—we were more than a little freaked out.
The gathering is pretty much as the name implies, wild rattlesnakes are caught and displayed to the crowds of fascinated spectators. The event draws visitors of all ages.
The captured wild snakes are either sold, displayed, killed for food or products, or released back into the wild.
