Ted Richards, an unusual Englishman, has had many procedures done to look like his beloved parrots. He’s had his eyeballs tattooed in colors and most recently, he endured a six-hour operation to have both of his ears removed.
“I think it looks really great. I love it. It’s the best thing that has happened to me. I am so happy it’s unreal, I can’t stop looking in the mirror,” Richards told South West News Service. “I’ve done it because I want to look like my parrots as much as possible. I’ve had my hair long for so many years my ears have been covered up.”
Richards, who was teased as a child for having strange ears, doesn’t miss them but insists his childhood trauma is not the reason behind removing both ears. It’s strictly for the birds, so to speak.
The only complaint the retired shoe factory worker has about having no ears is that it’s hard to keep his glasses on.
Richards has reportedly given his severed ear tissue (see the photos above) to a friend who “will appreciate them,” and has future plans for his next plastic surgery procedure: He’s looking for a surgeon who can turn his nose into a beak.
