What was supposed to be a day filled with celebrations soon turned into one of the darkest moments in football history.
On May 11, 1985, a fire broke out in the wooden stands of the Valley Parade football stadium in Bradford, England, during a match between Bradford City and Lincoln City. It was an absolute tragedy.
The flash fire spread “faster than a man could run.”
In all, 56 people were killed by the blaze, and more than 250 others were injured. One fan lost three generations of his family.
