He’s back! Regis Philbin has signed on with a new talk show less than a year after leaving his long-term post at Live! With Regis and Kelly.
Philbin will be a recurring guest star on The Rachel Ray Show, joining the host in her cooking segments. As for his experience in the kitchen, don’t expect much!
Says Philbin, “I can make a sandwich. Two pieces of bread and you lay a little cheese or something on there. Add some mustard. Bang! I’ve made some lunch!” he quipped. “I would love to let her teach me [so] that I could cook here at home and really surprise my wife.”
Ray released her own statement saying, “I can’t tell you how excited I am that Regis will be a recurring special guest on our show this season. Regis has been a close friend of the show and a close friend of mine for years and it’ll be a blast having him on the team.”
Philbin will make his first appearance next Monday, September 24. And, the Guinness World Record holder for the “Most Hours on U.S. Television” is looking forward to being the guest and not the host!
Telling USA Today, “I’m not a co-host, I’m just a guy showing up on her show once a month. I love the idea. It’s fun to be back on TV when you don’t have to do it every day.”
The Rachel Ray Show isn’t his only gig either. He can be seen in the November 28th season premiere of the comedy Hot in Cleveland as Betty White’s gentleman caller.
