Rescued Magpie Becomes Inseparable Part of Family Who Saved Her Life (PHOTOS & VIDEO)

Rescued animals tend to show the greatest levels of gratitude to their saviors.

For one family living in Newport, Australia, their decision to save a baby magpie that fell from a tree has led to a lifelong friendship.

In 2013, the Blooms brought the magpie, whom they named Penguin, into their home and nursed it back to health. Although Penguin was never caged and given the opportunity to fly away whenever she wanted to, the bird chose to stick around.

“It’s like a dog wagging its tail — she sits there in the tree and flaps her wings like she’s excited,” Cameron Bloom told ABC News. “The joy she’s bought to all our lives has been immeasurable.”

Penguin has become such a sensation that she even has her own Instagram account, which now has more than 3,500 followers.
