We Americans are a pretty patriotic bunch, but we’ve gotta give it up to Romania for just breaking the world record for the largest national flag ever created.
On Monday, some 200 Romanian volunteers rolled out a 1,145 feet by 744.5 feet behemoth of a flag, covering the length of about three football fields, weighing five tons and covering an area of 853,478 square feet.
An adjudicator for the Guinness World Records was at the site and declared the new world record. The Romanian flag bested Lebanon’s 2010 flag, which measured 706, 651 square feet. Check out this image of a man helping to arranging the flag in the village of Clinceni.
