An unknown Colorado man was hospitalized Sunday morning after being run over by his own car in Aurora, a suburb of Denver.
WMAZ 13 reports that the man was driving at the time of the incident. He apparently dropped a lit cigarette down the front of his jacket, leapt out of the car to avoid being burnt and, as a result, was run over by his own vehicle as he was backing it out of a driveway. After he jumped out, the car kept rolling back, knocking him onto the ground.
The man suffered life-threatening injuries after the front driver’s side tire rolled over his head, and is in critical condition currently. Police say he will likely survive.
A relative was in the car’s front seat at the time and was not hurt. Since alcohol was not a factor in the crash, police don’t anticipate filing any charges.
