There’s a reason celebs have publicists—sometimes, they just can’t be trusted to talk for themselves without sounding stupid, embarrassing, politically incorrect, or just plain rude!
Eonline.com managed to capture the cringe-worthy quotes of the year that celebs are probably wishing they had never made—and we would all just forget.
Yeah, good luck with that.
1. Charlize Theron
At a human rights campaign gala, actress Charlize Theron publicly gushed to her Shame costar “Your penis was a revelation. I’m available to work with it anytime.” Easy on the champagne there, Charlize. We know acting roles for intelligent women are hard to come by, but that’s no reason to whore yourself out.
2. Kristen Stewart
After Kristen’s cheating scandal broke, the Twilight actress released a public statement of apology to her boyfriend Robert Pattinson pleading, “I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry!” Kristen, we’d forgive you if you hadn’t denied the relationship for so long. Admitting to it shortly after cheating just comes across as tacky.
Grammy singer Adele took the high road after being pegged as a “breakup song artist” telling Vogue magazine “I’m done with being a bitter witch.” It’s probably for the best since she’s now a mother and she landed the man!
4. Pippa Middleton
The most famous royal sister-in-law is not unaware of her status, writing in her self-penned book, “It’s a bit startling to achieve global recognition before the age of 30 on account of your sister, your brother-in-law, and your bottom.” We hear you, Pippa. We wouldn’t want to trade places with you, either. Well, expect maybe trading bottoms with you.
5. Kim Kardashian
Kardashian quotes could probably fill up a much larger article, but let’s just say Kim managed to get through her famous “flour bombing” incident on the red carpet by later joking, “Like I said to my makeup artist, I wanted more powder.” You got it, Kim. Just don’t ask for pig’s blood, we have a feeling that’s coming next.
6. Lindsay Lohan
After Amanda Bynes managed to replace her in the news this year, the Liz & Dick actress tweeted “Why did I get put in jail and a nickelodeon star has had NO punishment(s) so far?” Well Lindsay, Amanda’s only had one bad year. You’ve had several. Let her play catch up, and maybe you two could share a future jail cell together.
7. Honey Boo Boo
In all fairness, the kid is only six years old. Still, when Alana Thompson (a child pageant queen and star of her own TLC reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Book) declared “Ain’t nothin’ wrong with bein’ a little gay. Everybody’s a little gay” you had to suppress your laughter, agreement, and the tag-line response “Out of the mouths of babes!”
8. Ryan Lochte
The Olympic gold medal winner of 2012 repeatedly tweeted out the phrase “Jeah!” making some wonder if he had too much water in the ears, or just needed to spend more time in school than the pool. Ryan had the last laugh though, trademarking his official catchphrase. Did we mention he’s hot and rich?
9. Kate Winslet
The Titanic actress is beloved not just for her acting chops, but her sense of humor. So many were aghast at her remarks during Titanic’s 3-D release when she commented about her appearance and that of co-star Leonardo DiCaprio’s: “We do look very different, we’re older…You know, he’s fatter now—I’m thinner. It’s true though!” Err, it may be true but probably wasn’t the kindest thing she could have said. Hopefully, the two were close enough for DiCaprio to overlook the comment.
10. Barack Obama
He didn’t just win re-election, he managed to put on a smile and joke around about constant thorn-in-his-side Donald Trump to Jay Leno. On the late-night talk show he responded to his long running feud with Trump over his birthplace by joking “This all dates back to when we were growing up together in Kenya.” Yep, we can definitely picture Donald Trump running around Kenya in his business suit, butting into everyone’s business.
