We’ve all seen the happy engagement photo shoots plastered all over our Facebook and Instagram feeds. We’ve seen the hashtags “engaged” or “love” flood our social media platforms this holiday season.
However, a new hashtag is rising and it’s everything opposite of a loving a committed relationship.
The hashtag, “divorceselfie” has become a thing and people are starting to use it excessively.
The #divorceselfie trend started when couple Shannon and Chris Neuman shared a selfie of themselves right outside a courtroom after filing for divorce.
Her caption read:
Since then, everyone hopped on the band wagon and started to post their divorce selfies on their personal social media channels.
It seems like the #divorceselfie has officially become a thing this year.
Maybe Gwyneth Paltrow wasn’t wrong when she wrote in her book with Chris Martin, “divorce is seemingly not half as destructive as we are lead to believe.”
