Mark your calendars everyone! Seth MacFarlane, the mastermind behind Family Guy and the 2012 comedy blockbuster Ted has been confirmed to host the 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.
Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a press release, “We are thrilled to have Seth MacFarlane host the Oscars. His performing skills blend perfectly with our ideas for making the show entertaining and fresh. He will be the consummate host, and we are so happy to be working with him.”
MacFarlane added, “It’s truly an overwhelming privilege to be asked to host the Oscars. My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don’t find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen roast.”
What we were more interested in was what Twitterverse had to say about the news, so we found out and gathered a few of our favorite tweets. Read on and then watch a hilarious video of MacFarlane breaking the news to his dad. Enjoy!

Seth MacFarland to host the #Oscars I'm pretty sure this will break the record for most flashback montages in a telecast.
