Student Wanted Over Columbine Obsession Is Dead

Sol Pais Found Dead

A Florida student, who the F.B.I said was on a “pilgrimage” to Columbine, was found dead on Wednesday. Her threats inspired hundreds of schools in the Denver area to close down for the day.

Sol Pais, 18, was found dead after an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

Before being discovered by authorities, Pais had trekked to Denver and was considered armed and “extremely dangerous.”

The following FBI post was shared this morning:

Officials were have been searching for Pais for the last couple of days after they were tipped off that she was “infatuated” with the Columbine attack. Pais went as far as purchasing a shotgun and ammunition after she arrived in Denver.

Pais was a student at Miami Beach Senior High School and had last been seen wearing camouflage pants, black boots, and a black T-shirt.

Dean Phillips, Special agent in charge of the F.B.I’s office in Denver, shared in a Tuesday night news conference that his team received a tip that Pais was a possible threat in Colorado.

Pais’ parents had reported her missing on Monday.

Sol Pais’ Alleged Online Blog

According to USA TODAY, a blogger identified herself as “Sol Pais” and shared pictures of guns and troubling journal entries.

The individual’s stated purpose of the blog is as follows:

“The purpose of this site is for me to give insight into the thoughts I rarely, if ever, share with others, while remaining somewhat anonymous. Everything from journal entries to my personal interests – I want to leave a record of myself before I, well…”

While it is assumed this is her blog, the USA TODAY has officially stated that they have “not been able to independently confirm that the blog belongs to Pais.”

Her Supposed National Gun Forum Post

A person with the screen name, “dissolvedgirl,” shared on a National Gun Forum message board that she lived in Miami and was heading to Colorado to buy a gun.

The F.B.I. has not confirmed whether or not the person was Pais.

The post National Gun Forum post read:

“Florida resident here. I am planning a trip to Colorado in the next month or so and wanna buy a shotgun while I’m there and I was wondering what restrictions apply for me? I’ve found a few private sellers I might want to purchase from; is it legal for me as a Florida resident to purchase a shotgun in Colorado? I’m 18 years old too, if it’s important. thank you for reading, i appreciate any response!”

Another post in the same forum read:

“The problem is i have no friends in FL who are into guns like me so it’s not as fun having to do all of this alone (hence the trip to CO to see these more knowledgable friends), but hey, it’s my damn choice what hobbies i wanna pick up and i don’t need anybody else (save for everyone on this forum, lol).”

A few forum members responded to the post, offering thoughts, suggestions, and questions surrounding her situation.

Pais was indeed able to purchase a gun in Colorado, but appears to have decided to take her life rather than follow through with a malicious plan.
