South African Elephant Damages VW Polo While Satisfying an Itch

While exploring the Pilanesburg National Park in South Africa, two tourists got a little more than they bargained for when a male elephant decided to satisfy an itch up against their vehicle.

We’ve all been there: “Ahhh.”

According to a field guide interviewed by the Daily Mirror, elephants are known to rub up against trees or pretty much anything in sight during the onset of an itch.

Fortunately, the people in the car weren’t crushed by the weight of the bull. But it did, in fact, do much damage to the VW Polo: all four tires were popped, the chassis was busted, the roof was smashed in and every window was shattered.

Next time, they’ll probably think twice before parking their vehicle near an itchy beast plagued by the urge to scratch.
