A study has some people smiling and some others shaking their heads. And before you decide it’s some kind of wonky pseudo-scientific hoax, know that the study was conducted at a legitimate university, the University of Essex in England.
In short, the study concludes that women are never straight. Yes, that’s a shocking generalization, but it’s precisely what the researchers came up with after analyzing the data. And sure enough, they say that women are either bisexual or gay, and nothing else. Now, that’s a shocker to many people. It even pisses some women off.
The results showed that 82% of the women tested were aroused by both sexes. Meanwhile of the women who identified as straight, 74% were strongly sexually aroused by videos of both attractive men and attractive women.
The experiment itself involved showing women a variety of clips of men and women with sexual overtones and nudity. The subjects’ responses were then recorded.
Dr Gerulf Rieger from the University’s Department of Psychology led the research, which analysed a total of 345 women. He truly believes his results are accurate even though some women are calling it a bunch of bull.
“Even though the majority of women identify as straight,” Rieger says, “our research clearly demonstrates that when it comes to what turns them on, they are either bisexual or gay, but never straight.”
Since the results of this study went public, many have taken issue with Rieger’s findings. Some women insist that the results do not point to bisexual or gay orientation so much as they do to women’s ability to appreciate female beauty more than men do with others of their own sex.
We want to hear what you think the results prove. Do you really think all women are either gay or bi? Let us know.
