Sweet Texas Dog Hitches 20-Mile Ambulance Ride to Emergency Room with Owner

This story is just further proof that dogs really are a man’s best friend.

According to the Standard-Times, a small dog in San Angelo, Texas, recently took a 20-mile ride on the side of an ambulance because he didn’t want to leave his 85-year-old owner’s side.

It was “a crazy ordeal,” explained Tanner Brown, an emergency medical technician. Brown had to wave down the ambulance’s driver to let them know they were carrying an extra passenger to the emergency room.

Buddy, a 35-pound Beagle mix, decided to come along and posted on the ambulance’s tiny side step for the entire journey.

“We didn’t have anything else to do but to load the dog up and put him in the ambulance and take him to the ER with us,” continued Brown. “It was kind of funny. We were inside and he had jumped onto the control switch and turned on the sirens and lights. We didn’t know what was going on.”

This pup is something else, isn’t he?!

The dog’s ownewr, JR Nicholson, who called the ambulance because he¬†was feeling lightheaded, was really impressed with Buddy.

“He didn’t have to go to the hospital with me, but he did,” Nicholson said.
