Tearful Lea Michele Dedicates Teen Choice Award Win to Cory Monteith

During her first major appearance since the tragic passing of Glee star Cory Monteith, the late actor’s co-star and girlfriend honored him with a tearful and heartfelt tribute speech, as she accepted the 2013 Teen Choice award for her “Choice TV Actress – Comedy” win.

Choking back tears, Michele thanked her fans for their support during the last several weeks and made a promise to get through the difficult time together.

“He was very special to me, and also to the world” she said. “We were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart.”

The actress also wore a “Cory” nameplate necklace to the show as part of the tribute.

Glee won four awards in total last night, the first one of which was “Choice TV Comedy.” Co-stars Kevin McHale, Amber Riley and Jenna Ushkowitz also dedicated the award to Monteith, describing him as their “brother.”
