As a teenager, Christie Swadling was once obsessed with looking like a Victoria’s Secret model, particularly Miranda Kerr.
At one point, she was only consuming about 200 calories per day, starving herself to be as beautiful and skinny as the women she saw on the cover of magazines.
The Australian was only 12-years-old when she began dieting — giving up her athletic, healthy lifestyle for one that left her barely able to walk.
Christie finally received a wake up call when she ended up in the hospital. She had lost so much weight that her heart rate dropped to a life-threatening level. She was literally on her death bed. That’s when she made the decision to start loving her body.
Now 18, she hopes her story will be an inspiring message for others who are currently suffering from an eating disorder.
